Is 5 minutes a day of VNS effective in adults also?

Five minutes of VNS once daily has a very potent anti-inflammatory effect in adults and children. Increasing VNS up to four, 5-minute cycles spread throughout the day has an additive effect in suppressing inflammation. For recovery from traumatic brain injury (TBI), adults older than thirty years of age almost universally need two hours of cycling vagus nerve stimulation to maximize their recovery.nnIf there is no improvement after 3-4 months of starting tVNS, I search for other sources of inflammation such as rapid relapsing of SIBO after rifaximin, probiotics, recurrent herpes simplex, chronic dental or sinus infections.   Increasing the tVNS above two hours per day will not solve these problems and should not be attempted.
